IT'S RAINING BABIES

Ok, so it's not really raining babies, although I might prefer them to all the wet stuff we have had lately.  We are having two weeks of baby shower ideas over at THE HYBRID CHICK.  If you are planning a shower check it out for some fun ideas. I created a  baby rattle favor/ door prize picker.  I'm a major multi-tasker so I always like creating dual purpose projects.
I have a tutorial up over at THE HYBRID CHICK if you would like to see how it was made.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, have a wonderful, dry, week!

AN ACE OF AN INSPIRATION

Many many moons ago, I suggested using Charm City Cakes for a Splitcoast Stampers challenge. I had totally forgotten about it until Stephanie emailed, said she was considering it for the next challenge, and asked if I could make a card. Of course I said yeppers! I love watching the Ace of Cakes on Food Network.  Duff is adorable,  their cakes are amazing, and it looks like so much fun to work at the shop. Unfortunately, I hear the show has been cancelled, it figures!
I used THIS cake as inspiration for a shabby little bird themed card.  This is card is extra special because I made it not only for the challenge but  for the birthday of my mom who will be 90 years old in May.  She is like the Energizer bunny and I can only hope that I am half as with it at her age.

Hope your having a wonderful weekend.  GO PENS!!!!

The papers are from Bo Bunny and Prima, bird stamp is from My Time Made Easy, the bird cage is an SVG from Whimsidoodle stamps, and the flourish is from Tim Holtz.  The little flowers were made from a Punch Bunch flower punch.
The scalloped circle for the base of the card was made with Doilie Shapes Set 1 from The Digi Chick

DECOUPAGE EGGS IN A DOLLAR STORE DISH

Happy Monday! Refurbish it Friday will return this week - I hope- just too much going on around here!
In the mean time, I have a tutorial on how to make some decoupage eggs over at THE HYBRID CHICK BLOG. They are so easy to do and make a pretty addition to your holiday decorations.
I picked the  paper for the eggs first and when I was done, I realized I didn't have anything to put them in.  Off I went to the dollar store to see what I could find.  I got a wire candle holder thingy (not sure what it is actually), a glass dish and some moss.
This is what it looked like originally.
I removed the cup on the bottom by twisting it back and forth till it came off.  I sanded it a bit to remove the rough edges.
I gave it a couple coats of primer and then a couple coats of this robins egg blue color.

I placed the glass dish on top and added some ribbon and prima roses (that I found on clearance at Michaels) to the bottom. I have a pretty little holder for less than three dollars, can't beat that!
I gathered up some organza, tucked it into the dish, and placed some moss and the eggs on top.  Love the shabby look of this.
